interviews about music
RAMA is a series of interviews shooted between 2012 to 2017 about the italian and european DIY music scene. A bounce of known and unknown Italian and international Artists from one of of the last existing netlabel (Selvaelettrica.com) gave their contribution to this small insight about the field.
The aim of the research is to investigate through the stories of the protagonsts, how the scene is changed after the advent of the digital music/distribution.
"Wojciech Rusin composes music for theatre and film. He invents instruments which often become part of the show. His radio play "The Garden" was broadcast on BBC Radio 6 "The Freakier Zone" in September 2016. He wrote music for the award winning show "No Guts No Heart No Glory" which was filmed and available to watch on BBC 4 and iplayer in November 2015. He works with digital and analog sound sources, contact mics, guitar amps, synthesisers and anything which can be used as an unique sound source. As Katapulto, with Selva elettrica and Proot Records, in 2008 he released Bodyhammer _ he recently released an LP "Powerflex" on the New York label Olde English Spelling Bee. His track "This Is The Future" appears on Boomkat's 14tracks."
Above the tree
"Marco Bernacchia a.k.a. Above the Tree, traces a path of investigation into the potentials of sound / noise (?) obtained from musical instruments. Often his sound is reminiscent of popular melodies, folk rhythms or a minimal kind of blues. In parallel with his solo project, Mark has played in bands such as M.A.Z.C.A. and Gallina. The project Above the Tree is an alter-ego of Bernacchia that when he performs, he masquerades as a mythological (fantastical) figure: half man, half chicken. This character is a double with its own parallel life, as the chicken behaves instinctively and short-sightedly and sometimes the performances become chaotic / scientific experiments..."

"...Xela Zaid, has sat quietly in the Miami music scene for the past three decades, a former winner of New Times' 2013 Best Solo Musician. Now devoted to experiments in dissonant ambiance, Zaid made his bones with the indie outfit Ho Chi Minh in the '90s. That group’s releases, 1997’s Motorama and 2001’s Summerwood, are indie reductions of excellent pop — proving his solid background in traditional musicianship. But since then, he continues to push the envelope of experimental and noise music."

Creapopolvsqve is a brand new Duo made by old friends Demented (a.k.a. System hardware Abnormal / Trapcoustic and many others) and Mushy (as Mushy and Phantom Love).
The starting point is the love for italian Horror Movies and great Erotic / Porno Films. Inspired by the images and the soundtracks of great Masterpieces, they build up this project with analog synth, drummachine, bass and archive sounds taken by old movies and "musica leggera italiana", sticking noises and traditional melodies into a unique continuum inspired by the LAWS of LOVE. The result is a dark mix made up of ambient, drone, synthwave, rhythms and orgasmic sounds driven by the motto: Satyricon meets Spermula.

JONIDA PRIFTI / ACCHIAPPASHPIRT
Acchiappashpirt is a collaboration between Jonida Prifti and sound artist Stefano Di Trapani – a sound and video poetry/poetronic project formed in 2008. Inspired by the ouija board concept “Poetry pilots the electronic sound through wirings and feedbacks and so turns it into poetry itself. Their concept is inspired by the ouija board, which is oral communication as a path to paranormal activities that passes through the linguistic Babel, used to free the sense”.
